October 14th Tasting
An Cnoc 12yr 40% abv
Spyside
Nose: Sweet with dried fruit and oaky
Palate: Oak and smoke at first, then some nice citrus notes with some nice sweetness
Finish: Medium short, slightly spicy with those oak tannins creepy in on the tail.
Comment: Great starter for someone new to single malts
Balvenie Peated Cask 17yr 43% abv
Speyside
Nose: Wonderful Balvenie honey and oak notes with fruit, raisins
Palate: Sweet & smokey with that peat coming through nicely but not what you might expect
Finish: Medium and dry with oak, late smoke, and a little spice
Glencadam 15yr 46% abv
Speyside
Nose: Oak and a sea breeze saltiness, some sweet notes with vanilla
Palate: Very buttery and well rounded with some oak late
Finish: Medium short with a little spice and a bit malty
Glengoyne Cask Strength 12yr 57.2%
Southern Highlands
Nose: Big vanilla & oak with sherry late
Palate: Rich & buttery, sherry and marzipan
Finish: Medium long and peppery
Comment: Nice job Glengoyne!
Lagavulin 2010 12yr 59.5%
Islay
Nose: Sweet peat and smoky, caramel
Palate: Smoky and peaty, very well balanced, buttery
Finish: Peppery and a bit oily, nice long smoky finish
Octomore 3.1 152PPM 5yr 59%
Islay
Nose: Burning peat fire and smoky with some sweet notes
Palate: Oily, more smoke, peat sweetness
Finish: Long and spicy, very sensual

McNeill’s “Oatmeal Stout” 5.4 % abv
VT
Nose: Dried fruit, dry oak, cereal maltiness
Palate: Very malty, chocolate, roasted malt
Finish: Short
Innus & Gunn “Rum Cask” 7.4% abv
Scotland
Nose: Perfume sweetness, marzipan
Palate: Not sweet on the palate with very light rum noted, a light lager mouthfeel
Finish: Quick with some late rum sweetness
Wells “Banana Bread Beer” 5.2% abv
England
Nose: Slightly sweet with banana, but balanced
Palate: Again very balanced lager with the sweet banana notes late, medium bodied
Finish: The banana notes again, short
Comment: Very enjoyable
Great Divide “Smoked Baltic Porter” 6.2% abv
CO
Nose: Bit sour on the nose but picking up some smoked malt
Palate: Nice malt, well rounded with chocolate & coffee notes
Finish: Bitter espresso, short
Mikkeller “Beer Geek Breakfast” Bourbon Barrel Aged 10.7% abv Denmark
Nose: Malty with chocolate and hops
Palate: Chocolate, coffee and light malt
Finish: Medium with the coffee and chocolate hanging on
De Proefbrouwerij Broederlijke Liefde 8%
Belgium
Nose: Hoppy, yeasty, and floral
Palate: Green hops balanced with bitter hops: like an IPA with Belgium Yeast
Finish: Short, yeasty, very Saison’ish
