It is hard NOT to have a great time when tasting the selections we had tonight!
A small but cozy group enjoyed very sip!
Glenfarclas 15yr 46%
Speyside
Nose: Vanilla, oak, raisins, honey, orange peel
Palate: Honey, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon, spice, medium body
Finish: Smooth and long, slightly sweet
Benrinnes 15yr 43% (Flora & Fauna)
Speyside
Nose: Citrus, oak, butterscotch, vanilla
Palate: Sherry, toffee, light peat
Finish: Short, little spicy
Auchentoshan Three Wood nas 43% abv
Lowland
Nose: Bourbon, orange peel
Palate: Sweet, syrupy, plum preserves
Finish: Medium, bit spicy, toffee, lingering
Auchroisk 10yr 43% (Flora & Fauna)
Speyside
Nose: Oak, vanilla, grassy
Palate: Cirtus, oak tannins, toffee
Finish: Long, slightly sweet
Bruichladdich PC6 6yr 61.6%
Islay
Nose: The Best - you just have to experience this for yourself
Palate: Sweet, sherry, peat - great balance
Finish: Long, makes you want to take your time with this one
Bowmore Portwood 21yr 51.5%
Islay
Nose: Vanilla, sherry, orange
Palate: Sherry, spice, bit port, orange notes
Finish: Spicy & long
We were a bit disappointed as the port did not come through as expected.
Kilchoman Inaugural Release 3yr 46%
Islay
Nose: Peat, sweet heather, smoke, grassy
Palate: instant peat, smoke, leathery, very warming
Finish: smoldering peat fire, dark chocolate, cooked raisins, but not sweet, long.
Beer List for 10/9/09
Nice mix of Fall brews.
Southern Tier “Imperial Pumking” 9% abv, NY
Nose: Pumpkin & spice - Great balance
Palate: Like drinking pumkin pie, yet well within the realms of a great light lager
Finish: Pleasant, medium short
Outstanding! A must for all. I find pretty much anything Southern Tier puts out is very unique and well balanced with great strength of flavor.
Dog Fish Head “Punkin Ale” 7% abv, Delaware
Nose: Fresh hops, spice
Palate: Good balance, light pumpkin, allspice, nutmeg
Finish: Short and enjoyable
Erie Brewing Co, “Fallenbock” Octoberfest Lager 7.8% abv, PA
Nose: Malty with a light hop influence
Palate: Caramel, sweet malt, fruit, although a bit flat
Finish: short
Cape Ann Brewing Co. “Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout” 7% abv, Massachusetts
Nose: Green Hops, flowery
Palate: Thin, malty, almost porter-like, no pumpkin, no spice
Finish: Short
Leinenkugel’s “Oktoberfest” German-Style Marzen, no abv listed, Wisconsin
Nose: Light, hoppy, slightly swet
Palate: Full-bodied, sweet
Finish: Fresh, refreshing
Heavy Seas “Prosit” Imperial Oktoberfest Stout
9% abv
Nose: Light hops, bit malt
Palate: Malty, sweet, good body, citrus notes
Finish: short
Tucher “Dunkels Hefe Weizen” no abv listed

Nose: Caramel, honey, light hops
Palate: Dry, refreshing, malty sweetness
