Nose: Hoppy


Palate: Hoppy


Finish: Hoppy


Comment: Makes me Hoppy










Amarcord Brewery “Birrra Artigianale Tavola” Blonde Ale Italy


Nose: Nice lemon nose, very fresh


Palate: Citrus and light hops, honey and yeast


Finish: Short, but pleasing











Amarcord Brewery “Birrra Artigianale Tavola” Brown Ale 6% Italy


Nose: Sweet & malty


Palate: Soft and sweet, roasted malt, with toffee notes


Finish: Short










MOA Brewing Co “Imperial Stout” aged in Pinot Noir barrels 10.2% abv New Zealand


Nose: Nice dark roasted malt, wine notes


Palate: Coffee and cocoa, light wine notes, slightly sweet and spicy


Finish: Medium with some oak and late bitterness

Glen Grant Major’s Reserve 10yr 40% abv

Speyside


Nose: Fresh, crisp apples & pears, a slight malty edge, light vanilla & splinters of oak


Palate: Spice apple cake with light floral notes, toffee, very clean


Finish: Medium short and slightly sweet


Comment: A great summer eve dram. Simple complexity







Ben Nevis 12yr 46% abv

Western Highlands


Nose: Stewed fruit & raisins, vanilla, sherry, light cocoa notes


Palate: Chewy, butterscotch, toffee, very buttery


Finish: Long with spice and some oak tannins late











Aberlour Select Cask Reserve 15yr 43% abv

Speyside


Nose: Nice sherry upfront layered with marzipan, dark fruit, and shades of cocoa


Palate: Buttery entry with toffee, dark fruit again, with light oak notes and late sherry


Finish: Medium long with nice spice rolling through











Talisker Storm nas 45.8% abv

Skye


Nose: Young and fruity with peat and spice edging away


Palate: A bit of smoke up front but quickly moving into a mound of fresh cut peat, yet still hanging on to those fruity pear and apple undertones


Finish: Medium long showing the peat, cold embers. and dried fruit


Comment: Not your typical Talisker!







Bowmore Maltman’s Selection nas 54.6% abv

Islay


Nose: Stewed prunes & plums layered with smoldering fire and peat, then some brandied cherries and chocolate. Yum!


Palate: Burst of spice and smoked peat, dark chocolate and rich fruitcake


Finish: Long and rich with burnt oatmeal cookies, dark chocolate and late spice


Comment: Very complex but balanced. A lot more going on here. Needs to be sipped slowly to appreciate. Add a bit of water to open up some additional notes.




Glenfarclas 105 20yr 60% abv

Speyside


Nose: A burst of chocolate and coffee, soot and a bit of sulfur (in a good way)


Palate: Huge hit with apricot jam and shoofly pie swimming with the coffee and chocolate, then raisins and dates


Finish: Long and powerful with a lingering sweetness and some late sherry


Comment: The 20 years have been nice to this 105 for sure
