Oh What a Night!

Kilchoman Autumn Release 2009 3 yr 46% abv
Islay

Nose: Smoke, sherry, vanilla, oak

Palate: Chewy, buttery, spice

Finish: Long, peppery

Another great one not to be missed. What a great experience to follow this distillery through the years. Can’t wait to taste the Spring release.



Balvenie Golden Cask 14yr 43% abv
Speyside

Nose: Spice, orange rind, clove, molasses

Palate: Vanilla, spice, mulling spice

Finish: Spicey again, orange, citrus, long


Just a whole lot going on here, what a great one from Balvenie. I just wish thre was a few more years on it to really beef it up.


Port Askaig 25yr 45.8% abv
Islay

Nose: Orange zest, oak, summer fruit, sweet

Palate: Malty, oak flavors, citrus pushing the lemon side, barley, and a bit briney on the tail

Finish: Citrus again with a bit of pepper, smoke, dry, medium long.





Macallan 1970 37yr 46%
Speyside

Nose: Big sherry nose, orange, vanilla, oak

Palate: Sherry hit, th orange rind with some late smoke

Finish: Warming, spicey and an extremely smooth, long finish

Big hit of the night! Worth every penny.





Bunnahabain 29yr 44.8% abv
Islay

Nose: Grassy, vanilla, oak and licorice

Palate: Big oak, malty, sweet, with some late sherry

Finish: Short and disappointing

Not what we expected.





Port Ellen 26yr 52% abv
Islay

Nose: Oaky, orange liqueur, tropical fruit, and smokey

Palate: Sweet fruit, brown sugar, coal, peppery with some phenols

Finish: Dry, peppery and a bit pungent, briney, long

Southern Tier “Krampus” Imperial Hells Lager 9%
New York


Nose: Big hops, citrus


Palate: Refreshing, caramel, sweet, citrus


Finish: Bit bitter, short





Great Divide Expresso Oak Aged “Yeti” Bohemian Black Imperial Stout 9.5%

Colorado

Stout aged on oak chips with coffee added


Nose: Big coffee, roasted malts, hops


Palate: Chocolate, vanilla, dark brown bitter hops


Finish: Oaky, medium



Southern Tier Imperial “Gemini” 10.5%
New York


Nose: Orange, sweet, bitter malts, hops


Palate: Hoppy, pine, citrus, caramel


Finish: Bitter, medium




Green Flash Brewing Co “Stout” 8.8%

California


Nose: Roasted malt, coffee


Palate: Dark roast malts, coffee, chocolate


Finish: Smooth, deep roast again, chocolate late





Laganitas “Cappuccino” Stout 9.25%

Nose: Light coffee and malty


Palate: Coffee & chocolate blend well with sweet dark cherries on the tail. More carbonation (pleasantly) than a stout would normally have


Finish: Smooth, chocolate, and again some late sweetness

Nose: Malty, sweet


Palate: Caramel, dark, chocolate, roasted hops, coffee
